Dr. Tauqueer Ahmad is Head, Division of Sample Surveys at ICAR-IASRI, New Delhi, India and is handling survey component of a National level CHAMAN project as Project Leader. He has been instrumental in getting the on-going International project awarded to ICAR-IASRI by FAO of the United Nations as Co-Principal Investigator. He did his Ph.D. in agricultural statistics from ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. His area of specialization is sample surveys, remote sensing and GIS. He has more than 18 years of experience in conducting basic and applied research in the area of variance estimation in the context of sample survey, ranked set sampling, adaptive cluster sampling, development of sampling methodologies, impact assessment, post harvest losses, application of remote sensing and GIS in agricultural surveys etc.
Dr. Ahmad has successfully completed 21 research projects including 10 research projects (5 externally funded and 4 consultancy projects) as Project Leader. He has developed new sampling methodology for estimation of cotton production, implemented in all the cotton growing states of the country by Govt. of India, new sampling methodology for estimation of area and production of horticultural crops, sampling methodology for estimation of harvest and post harvest losses of major crops/ commodities, methodology for estimation of area under agroforestry using remote sensing and GIS, integrated sampling methodology for multiple crops acreage estimation based on remote sensing, GIS and ground survey in North-Eastern hilly region, adopted in Meghalaya and Tripura states, modified the method of sampling of imported fertilizers from ships/containers and adopted under Fertilizer Control Order, Govt. of India. He has organized 14 international and national training programmes as Course Director/Course Coordinator/Co-Course Director.

Dr. Ahmad has received ICAR Jawaharlal Nehru Award and Young Scientist Award of Indian Society of Agricultural Statistics. He has been recognized as Expert by FAO of the United Nations for attending meetings at FAO headquarters, Rome, Italy and for imparting training in different countries namely, Indonesia, Rwanda and Jamaica.
