Dr. Himadri Ghosh started his research carrier in the area of designing diallel cross experiments under Dr. M. N. Das. He explained the practical aspect of partial diallel cross which led to understand the subject in the light of random effects modelling of diallel cross experiment. The most heartening outcome of the work is that all the optimality results in case of fixed effects model have been shown to remain valid in random effects model. Perhaps, for the first time an unbiased estimator of ratio of variance components have been proposed.
Dr. Himadri Ghosh’s other area of research is nonlinear/nonparametric time-series modelling with emphasis on its statistical property in terms of conditions of stationarity and optimal out-of-sample forecasting along with estimation procedure inspired by genetic algorithm. He has completed several research projects including project funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and author of several research papers in national/international peer-reviewed journals. Recently Dr. Ghosh is carrying out a research project in the area of stochastic differential equation and its application in Agriculture funded by Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He is also carrying out nonparametric modelling of trend in the presence of correlated errors, where a modified three-fold cross validation bandwidth estimation is obtained and applied to real time-series data. He has obtained several awards including Mrs. Bhargavi and Professor C.R.Rao Award.
